Today I met Toby the "Peter Pom". His mom calls him that when he's in the sling getting his
nails cut. He's a sweet little guy that's had allot to deal with. The story goes he was getting groomed and for whatever reason......the groomer (or bather brusher) left the dryer repeatedly too long in one spot. He ended up burned over 80% of his body, making him lose most of his hair.
His vet said that he would be bald for the rest of his life. As you can see on his neck.. the dark grey skin has no hair on it. But good news!! The hair on his back is coming back! Hopefully in time he'll get some semblance of a coat again.
Jessie the Golden is an anxious little girl. But behaved so well that I ended up kissing her several times on the nose. Then Lynn came in and said,"Don't forget ........she bites for nails!" Hmmm glad I hadn't gotten that far yet. For her back feet she was fine. Her fronts she showed her teeth and that was it. I corrected her firmly and kept going. I just tipped the nails and then drummeled them. Her nails were WAY long. The problem with dogs that get away with bad behavior is that sometimes there quality of life and or health can be affected. Very long nails typically have very long quicks. So you have to take the nails shorter gradually over a period of time.
Next is Roxy. Roxy gets the biggest pain in the hinei award, for the week. She is untrained, with an anxious mind. While in the tub she whines, and moans, sits when she's supposed to stand, turns around facing left when its time to face right etc etc etc. A Bouvier de Flandes is a large powerful dog and Roxy is no exception. While brushing out the mattes between her toes,... she danced around. I brushed out her snout while she jerked her head back and forth etc etc. What a work out.
